[NAME]: Isabella Medina

Last Known Location(s): Level 13, Level 4
Known Affiliations: The M.E.G.

Isabella Medina, widely known as Agent Bell, is an operative agent and field researcher for The M.E.G. currently in possession of The Memoriter, a gramophone said to cause strange dreams in those who listen to its music. Her research primarily focuses on entities and possible exits to the Backrooms, as well as The Memoriter itself. Agent Bell joined The M.E.G in 2016 at age 37, after she was found wandering Level 5 with The Memoriter in hand.

infoDescription

Agent Bell is a 5’8” Hispanic trans woman. She has straight, long, dark-brown hair and brown eyes. Her face is angular with a strong jaw and high cheekbones. Some of Agent Bell's distinguishing features are the two freckles beneath her right eye and one above her left eyebrow. Agent Bell has snake bites and lobe piercings from her teen years, as well as scars on her hands and right forearm caused by a run-in with a Skin-Stealer while conducting field research with other M.E.G. agents.

Agent Bell’s average outfit consists of the standard M.E.G. uniform as well as simple silver bracelets, earrings, and her family’s necklace. Agent Bell typically carries a cross-body bag with her, which contains journals, writing utensils, a silver zippo lighter, almond water, a pack or two of cigarettes (if she’s been able to get her hands on some), and any other extra equipment she needs for field research.

psychologyPersonality

Agent Bell is nothing if not persistent. She strongly holds the belief that if she commits hard enough and works hard enough, she can figure a way out of any situation. Notably, she is also reported to be relatively fearless, even going as far as to pursue entities or beings that interest her despite their danger level. She wants to know everything and anything about her surroundings, and will go to great lengths to achieve this goal.

On the topic of her curiosity, this can (and often does) bleed into Agent Bell being nosy or pushy towards others to squeeze as much information out of them as possible, for her to analyze and add onto her growing collection of journals and documents. As much as she seems to enjoy interviewing others about their experiences, Agent Bell is a loner and doesn’t have many — if any — friends within the M.E.G. She is a workaholic and insomniac; a combination typically resulting in locking herself in her apartment to work for long hours each day. Agent Bell has bluntly expressed how if she were not a “fish out of water” within the Backrooms, she would have never joined the M.E.G.

groupRelations

"The Grifter": Agent Bell is confirmed to have a line of communication with The Grifter, an entity tied to The Memoriter. The intricacies of their relationship are not public knowledge, due to Agent Bell’s hesitance to share anything beyond vague answers when questioned about The Grifter and her connection to the Memoriter. However, Agent Bell has told her supervisors that she is working on documenting her findings about The Grifter, and that she plans to release the information she deems “shareable” in the future. As of January 2017, Agent Bell’s name was revealed to The Grifter by Antonio Medina. Her previous request to be referred to as “Agent Bell” within proximity of the Memoriter has been nullified.

There is an ongoing investigation into The Grifter’s connection to Agent Bell’s changes in behaviour.

Antonio Medina: Agent Bell and Antonio’s relationship is tense at the moment. Agent Bell has expressed that she is not comfortable explaining why her brother is avoidant of her, however when questioned, Antonio told the M.E.G. that she isn’t the person he knew in the Frontrooms and that is causing some clashes between them. When asked to elaborate, Antonio explained that he felt Agent Bell is more invested in her research than reconnecting with him, and as a result, he feels abandoned - especially after trying on multiple occasions to revive their previously close relationship.

Antonio has made it clear that he did not intentionally reveal his sister’s name to the Grifter, and that their grievances with each other lie outside of the following consequences.

searchHistory

From what little information Agent Bell has shared about her past and the gaps filled in by her brother, Antonio, the following has been gathered:

Isabella Medina was born in Santa Rosa, New Mexico in 1979. Her immediate family consisted of her parents, her older sister Eilana, and her twin brother Antonio. Her older sister’s name was unknown until Antonio arrived in the backrooms, as Agent Bell refused to provide it due to a grudge against her. Neither Agent Bell nor Antonio are willing to provide their parent’s names.

The Medina family were known psychic mediums in the area, and as a result, Agent Bell took part in mediumship throughout her life in the Frontrooms. Agent Bell credits this belief system with her life-long interest in the paranormal and cryptids.

Agent Bell attended local schooling in Santa Rosa from elementary school through university, from which she graduated with a master's degree in American Literature. She used her degree to get a job as an archivist at her local museum while working a waitress job on the side to fund her transition, and general life expenses.

When Agent Bell was around thirty years old, her mother died under unknown circumstances. Not a year later, her father was found dead under similar circumstances. Agent Bell and her brother refuse to elaborate on how their parents died, but Agent Bell suspected a malicious spirit was plaguing the family and was the cause of her parent’s deaths.

According to Agent Bell, the prospect of this malicious spirit did not scare her as it did her sister –- who fled the country and left her younger siblings to cover funeral costs — but instead intrigued her. Outside of her working hours, Agent Bell tried to hunt down this spirit over the span of multiple years, which she named “Stalker”. Antonio noted that there was never any proof of “Stalker’s” connection to their parent's death, and he believes Agent Bell was coping with the loss of their parents and abandonment of Eilana through her pursuit of this so-called spirit.

Agent Bell’s cat and mouse game would come to a swift end upon her no-clipping into the Backrooms at age thirty-seven while waiting for her older sister at the local airport, who had decided to visit Santa Rosa for the first time since her disappearance.

Agent Bell found herself in Level 0, momentarily confused and frightened. However, according to her, curiosity quickly took over as she began to explore. After a period of time and exploration, Agent Bell ended up in Level 5, where she heard the tune she was humming playing in the distance. Throwing caution to the wind, she followed the sound and found The Memoriter. When asked why she picked up the object and traveled with it, Agent Bell responded that it brought her a sense of comfort in an otherwise foreign environment. While survival was not easy, she admitted that The Memoriter kept her spirits high, and strengthened her resolve to find a way back to the Frontrooms.

M.E.G operatives found Agent Bell wandering the halls of Level 5. In the hopes of acquiring the odd object from her, they took her into their custody. After lengthy negotiations, Agent Bell agreed to join the M.E.G. as long as she could keep possession of The Memoriter once testing and experimentation were complete.

In 2016, Agent Bell became an operative agent and field researcher for the M.E.G. focused on finding an exit to the Backrooms. She is also the sole researcher on "The Memoriter" and “The Grifter”, since Object 18 is currently in her possession.

Up until mid-January of 2017, she would continue her research and work, until her supervisor, Camila Soria, noticed that Agent Bell started to show concerning changes in her behavior at the beginning of February 2017. This followed shortly after Agent Bell’s brother, Antonio Medina, no-clipped into the Backrooms on January 14th earlier that year. Initially, the changes in her behavior were accredited to the tense situation between the siblings, however it quickly became apparent there was something deeper affecting Agent Bell. As a result, Supervisor Soria would begin an investigation into Agent Bell’s behavioral changes. Antonio Medina would admit to accidentally saying Agent Bell’s real name in the presence of the Memoriter during an interview shortly after the investigation began. This would kickstart Supervisor Soria’s suspicions that the Grifter was responsible for Agent Bell’s recent behavior, which Agent Bell already knew and had not shared.

Currently, she is no longer part of her field research team and continues her research on topics that do not require her to venture far from M.E.G. bases, for example, Level 13. Agent Bell is also an active participant in the investigation.
