Entity 0, colloquially known as Charon or The Spright (Aehin), is the resident entity of Level 0

infoDescription

Entity 0 seemingly bears no concrete form. Because of the effects that its “terror-radius” has on the mind, many find difficulty in describing its appearance.
Generally, however, the Spright has been described as “willowy” with “spiraling features” and “a body cloaked in shadows”. It is tall, thin and vaguely humanoid in shape, standing bipedal. Its limbs are rather thin and stiff, yet it can still move swiftly and silently. Its arms reach the floor with long, thin sharply-pointed fingers, while its legs are relatively short and lack feet, instead ending in stubs. A cable-like material encompasses its body and legs. Its movements appear stiff and mechanical, leading to theories that it may be using objects discovered within the Backrooms to support its form, such as furniture, camera tripods, or building materials.

Entity 0 is the result of the collective beliefs of many coming to fruition, but only after the flame that birthed it into existence was extinguished. It should be dead by all means — and it is — yet it is not. It perpetually occupies a liminal state between life and death, precariously toeing the line. The slightest misstep could send it fading off into nonexistence, and the Spright is aware of this; Fearful of it, but curious all the same — it knows not of when its end will arrive, just that it will someday. It accepts it, like it had before it became what it is now.

The Spright inflicts severe emotional distress upon whatever other lifeform it encounters, passively projecting an aura of terror “terror-radius” around it. The only way for the Spright to weaken or nullify this effect is by unveiling its only feature which remains human — its still-beating heart. However, the entity remains unwilling to do so, as this effect remains the primary mechanism of deterrence from other hostile entities outside of direct force. Despite its appearance, Entity 0 is proven to possess unusual strength and can throw objects at immense speeds, capable of doing considerable damage to a human.

This entity is a hivemind which — likely as a result of the sheer amount of those which have lived and died in the past — seems to possess an expansive knowledge of the Backrooms and its properties. It can no-clip at will, but otherwise has no abilities that can directly affect how the Backrooms itself functions.
Entity 0 has shown to be capable of communication, but prefers not to, as doing so can exemplify the effects of its “terror-radius”.

psychologyBehavior

Entity 0 lurks primarily within the deeper recesses of the Backrooms, but seems to cycle between levels as it used to before it became what it is now — helping lost travelers back to safety, but at the cost of them being haunted by the memory for the rest of their life. Its terror-radius never fails to leave a traumatic psychic imprint on all who encounter it.

For an entity which induces a panic-attack-like state in anything that goes near it, Entity 0 is surprisingly relatively passive.
Although it does not require any form of sustenance, Entity 0 will still consume food for the simply satisfaction of the act itself. It has been observed to chase off certain entities from food sources located nearby human settlements, as it seems to enjoy the food better when it is not the one hunting for it.

It also seems to enjoy watching humans from a distance, and even certain entity species.

searchThe Encounter

I would like to imagine it’s like that moment where you’re so dazed from fear that you feel like you’re floating. You feel nauseated, but too scared and weak to actually vomit. Yet, there is a glimmer of awareness in you, out of the corner of your vision, you see it beckoning to you. You’re so unbelievably terrified, but you do as asked, it follows behind you never in front but you are guided by markings which seem to litter the walls.

Slowly, the memory slips from you in the darkness. After, you can recall the memory but it’s warped unimaginably, the fear having numbed the vividness of the encounter. The visage of the entity just out of sight blurs, and eventually you’ll forget.

But you know better now, you’re alive and well.

This entity knows exactly what you’re going through, it’s gone through it many lifetimes before in fact. The dread and anxiety and the awful things that lurk in the dark.

That’s why it’s now attempted to become the fear, so that others think twice and it can live another undead day. Its existence is solitary and restless, but not lonely.

Multitudes of lifetimes spent wandering, now respire as one.
