HABITAT(S): Level 69
Entity 14, also known as "Obscura", is a hostile and mysterious void-like entity that lingers in Level 69.
Description
Obscura appears as a dark ghastly figure with tints of pure pale skin, standing at a towering height yet possessing a slender and curved physique. He has a blank mask-like face, with two empty eye sockets from which a black inky substance bleeds out. Obscura's hair is fluorescent white in color, flowing like mist. His head is not joined to his body with a neck, instead hovering above his shoulders. His torso contains visible cracks, radiating from a mysterious star-shaped core embedded in the sternum. He has large claw-like hands which are also detached from his body, with thin, long fingers.
Obscura wears robes patterned with celestial and abyssal symbols, though they appear worn and tattered. Around his neck is a sable chain encrusted with carbonado diamonds, linking a black fur collar attached to a worn black cloak patterned with the midnight sky. A jagged black halo/crown hovers over his head, signifying his "royalty". Occasionally, Obscura will visibly radiate a dark, ghastly aura resembling ink in water.
Biology
Although Obscura was supposedly born as a Penumbra, whatever he has since become is far removed from that. His physical capabilities such as strength, durability, speed and agility are greatly heightened.
Obscura's form is primarily composed of a ghastly ink-like substance. As such, it is only partially solid/corporeal, holding itself together through anomalous means. As previously mentioned, his head and hands are detached from his body, instead floating alongside it within close proximity. He lacks a distinct pair of legs, instead only having a nebulous cloud below his torso.
Obscura has the ability to alter the proportions of individual parts of his body. The most prominent example of this is when he increases the size of his hands to swat away enemies like flies. He can also remotely control the detached parts of his body, sending his hands to chase enemies. His inky claws have a strangling grip and are razor-sharp, capable of "slitting the fabric of reality" (which is typically how he creates portals). Obscura can also spawn eyes in other locations, through which he can remotely view them. He primarily does this to prevent any potential "intruders" from catching him by surprise.
Given Obscura's lack of corporeality, it is difficult to harm him with physical attacks. He does not have mortal biological needs like hunger or thirst, at least not in a traditional sense. Obscura will feed on energy, if necessary, typically in situations in which he has been weakened. He "consumes" energy by drawing it into his core in a manner similar to black hole. This core, similar in appearance to a primordial star, seems to serve as a source of power and a sort of "third eye".
Obscura is at his most powerful within his level, which he holds absolute dominion over. He is able to remotely manipulate any part of the level at will, such as darkening it or altering the landscape. The volatility of his powers seems to correspond to his emotional state.
Obscura is incapable of verbal communication, completely lacking a mouth. He can only communicate thorough obscure and esoteric means, making it difficult for normal humans to understand him. It is rumored to be the result of a curse placed upon Obscura.
Behavior
Obscura is aggressive to any being entering his level, human or entity. He is antisocial, rarely willingly interacting with others. It also requires a lot of trust from Obscura in order for him to reveal any sort of background information about himself. He exhibits a distinct lack of consideration and empathy and is often extremely paranoid.
In spite of willingly isolating himself, this does not necessarily mean that Obscura does not feel lonely. One wanderer in Level 69 reported hearing the sounds of weeping coming from Obscura's castle.
Very rarely, Obscura may venture outside his level only in situations that absolutely warrant it. When doing so, he exhibits highly paranoid behavior, as if fearing that someone or something may find him. will sometimes gather courage to traverse to other realms, although with lots of heavy caution and paranoia.
In spite of his intimidating and imposing aura, Obscura has yet to take any lives; or at the very least, it has not been recorded.
History
From what has been gathered from various second-hand sources such as records, rumors and testimonies, as well as occasional passing remarks by Obscura himself, his life up until present has likely played out in the following manner:
Lunis, as a young Penumbra.
Obscura was born Lunis, a Penumbra in The Gelid Isle. Having been born prematurely, he was considered a "runt", being much shorter than the average Penumbra. This social ostracization led Lunis to retreat within himself, developing a curiosity towards the world around him. Although innocent in nature, this curiosity led to him committing several taboos within the Penumbra culture, such as venturing beyond their home level. This only served to push those around him even further away.
Eventually, after gathering enough courage, Lunis would leave Level 813, venturing beyond into other realms. However, the harsh reality soon set in that he was not as experienced or prepared as he believed. Hunger, thirst, exhaustion and injuries began to take their toll on Lunis as he arrived to level 8, whereupon he stumbled into Level 197.
It was here that Lunis first met The Dark Sovereign, who took pity on him when he learned of his situation. Although inexperienced with parenting, The Dark Sovereign chose to take on the responsibility of raising Lunis himself. Lunis spent the rest of his childhood under The Dark Sovereign's care, learning much about the world from him and training in various practices such as combat and magic.
Upon reaching adulthood, Lunis would be made into The Dark Sovereign's champion. Although it granted him much power, it also proved to be a negative turning point in his life. But whatever exactly happened following this is uncertain, even to Obscura, who seems to have no recollection of it.

Relations
The Dark Sovereign: Obscura's relationship with The Dark Sovereign seemed akin to that of a father and son, or mentor and student. He is the primary source of Obscura's current power, which is derived from a portion of his essence. The two seemed to have a very positive and loving relationship but have long since been estranged for unknown reasons.
The Keymaster: Obscura seems apprehensive towards The Keymaster, who was supposedly sent by The Dark Sovereign to retrieve him.
Philia: Despite barely interacting with Obscura, Philia has always been kind and compassionate towards him. She wishes to know more about Obscura, but he has yet to divulge his secrets to her. He sees her much like he does Celeste.
