HABITAT(S): Level 906
Entity 140, or Blanche1 as she prefers to be called, presides over The Cygnus Archive as its “keeper”. While there is still much mystery surrounding Blanche's nature, origins, abilities and motivations, there's no doubting her kindness and concern for others. She has become one of the most trusted sources of information in the Backrooms. Additionally, Level 906 is one of the most popular levels among wanderers, with many seeking Blanche for advice, comfort, insight or company. There have even been reports of M.E.G. operatives competing over missions to the Cygnus Archive. Blanche has fostered a safe space of sorts in the Backrooms, free from group rivalries or harmful entities. Many have found in Blanche a close friend, and an incredible ally.
Description:
Blanche is a humanoid figure that presents herself as a pale woman with long blond hair and light blue eyes. Despite presenting as female, Blanche has no gender, and has additionally stated to be aromantic and asexual. She has predominantly been seen wearing multiple white dresses, various pieces of jewelry (most notably a sapphire pendant she seems to keep on her at all times) and, occasionally, opera gloves, glasses and various types of hats, though many other outfits have been reported. Her body has been reported to bend, stretch, or deform in ways not humanly possible, though such reports are very rare. It remains unknown if these odd movements occur due to anomalies in Level 906’s nature or Blanche herself.
Behaviors:
Blanche spends most of her time sorting books, cleaning, writing and waiting for new visitors. She is kind and peaceful, wishing no harm to any guest of hers, traits that have earned her a well deserved reputation for being friendly and helpful. Many people throughout the Backrooms seek her for her wisdom, a little comfort, or a simple chat over a cup of tea.
Upon arriving at Blanche's office, visitors are greeted by her, and invited for tea after introductions. She will gladly guide you through her library, if you ask politely, and she will tell you all sorts of stories about herself, her library, and other visitors, on the condition you share with her your story, too. Blanche values curiosity and politeness, so do mind your manners, and your language, or you'll be lectured in proper etiquette, or even taken out of her home. If you prove yourself to be an exceptional visitor, Blanche will gift you with one of her books, as a means to visit her whenever.
Over the course of time, she has become one of the M.E.G.'s most trusted and reliable sources of information. As such, she has been given limited access to the M.E.G.'s internal database and network. She often publishes her stories, and, occasionally, entries of her own. Pages written by, or relating to Blanche can be found here.
Aside from the M.E.G., Blanche is known to have ties to various other groups (most notably, the Eyes of Argos and The Lost), as well as friendly relationships with many people and entities of the Backrooms. It is also worth noting that Blanche is quite popular among children in the Backrooms, with some parents dropping off their kids at the Cygnus Archive during extraordinary circumstances, such as illness or injury.
Biology:
Blanche is a powerful humanoid entity capable of interacting with the human mind in unprecedented ways. Blanche has shown a vast suite of anomalous abilities. While the full extent of them is still unknown, she is known to be able to read minds, communicate telepathically, move, create, destroy, or summon objects with a mere thought, change her appearance, alter the flow of time in her library, teleport, and to be aware of everything inside the Cygnus Archive, though this is yet to be confirmed. In short, we have reason to believe that Blanche's abilities, while confined to Level 906, are as close to omnipotence as it gets, giving her complete control over the Cygnus Archive and everything within it. Additionally, she is known to be able to enter others’ dreams, communicate telepathically across levels, and to move her entire level across the Blue Channel on multiple occasions.
Aside from the aforementioned abilities, Blanche appears to be aware of everything inside her library and to have full control over Level 906, being able to reshape it to her will. She can sometimes be seen moving objects without a single motion, using what is presumed to be telekinesis. She has only been seen using her hands for serving and drinking tea, reading, writing, petting her cat, Berry, and to comfort guests. She's also shown to be able to delve into the human mind, read one's thoughts, and recreate memories with perfect accuracy within Level 906, even interacting with them, according to some reports. Blanche tends to hide these abilities from newer guests, gradually using them more and more as she becomes more familiar with a particular visitor.
The exact nature of Blanche’s biology, if it can even be called that, remains unknown. She does, however, tend to try and mask as human, a disguise that has proven to be effective, but not flawless. Wanderers have reported sightings of anomalous deformations, unnatural movements, and perhaps most infamously, “Witnessing The Beyond.”
Some things are best left unknown, dear. It is for your own safety.

Relations:
Blanche seems to share a somewhat familial bond with other beings of similar stature to herself, regarding them as siblings. Tom Von Haderach even refers to them as his “aunts and uncles”. The below list of relations is in Blanche's own words.
The Keymaster
“He may seem mysterious and ominous…but if truly you get to know him, you'll find that he is actually quite sweet! Our friendship has certainly been tested, but all water is under the bridge.”
The Pillar Scribe
“Poor Paris has gone through so much — he still is, in many ways. I can only hope that my library brings him some sense of safety and peace.”
The Alchemist
“He likes paying me the occasional visit to pick up some books and a drink of whiskey. He reminds me in many ways of the late Allseer — but I try not to compare the two, since he doesn't enjoy it.”
Maria
“She is quite the free-spirited child, but can sometimes be a bit too adventurous. Thankfully, The Alchemist usually keeps her reigned in when she visits.”
Philia
“She is such a sweet and gentle soul, and makes for great company. I very much enjoy our tea parties and the gifts that she makes for me. I sometimes worry that her bleeding heart will get her hurt — though, then again, that may be hypocritical coming from me.”
The Game Master
“I condemn her senseless torture of wanderers, but I understand that she is lost and misguided. I only wish that I could properly reach out to her, to help her and show her a different path — but sadly, that isn't so easy when we are both bound to our respective levels.”
The Red Knight
“I like to consider him a dear friend — sadly, he hasn't visited in quite some time. I understand that he is quite busy with his duties, though I do hope his regard towards me remains the same.”
Argos
“Ah, yes…we go back, him and I. His Law Keepers often visit in search of lost scriptures, and I assist them however I can. In fact, my dear Tom is training directly under Argos in mystical martial arts — solely for nonviolent self-defense, of course. On that note, I do wish he was less zealous in his pursuit of Justice — though I believe Philia and I are making good progress in helping him unlearn it!”
