Entity 18, colloquially titled “The Beast”, presides as the owner of The Terror Hotel and the manager of its staff – with the goal of gaining and keeping as many guests as possible by any means necessary.
Description
The Beast appears as a 6'2" humanoid figure with piercing yellow eyes, wearing a formal suit with a moth-shaped pin attached to the breast pocket. A scarf is draped around his shoulders, and he carries a cane.

Behavior
At first glance, The Beast may seem like a "fine, well-mannered gentleman", helpfully offering asylum in his hotel to lost wanderers and tending to their needs while being incredibly strict about the hotel's service. However, this is merely a guise masking his true, sinister intentions.
In truth, The Beast is a cunning, malevolent opportunist known for tricking people into making deals with him. He feeds off of others' desires, thus striving to fulfill those of his guests in the form of a deal. However, this does not come without a cost. When a guest enters a deal with The Beast, they are unwittingly bound to a contract with conditions that they are forced to obey. Said conditions may vary between deals, but they are often sadistic in nature and serve to amuse The Beast.
Biology
The Beast is shown to bear biological components from humans and cephalopods, as well as some abilities of the latter. He has the ability to camouflage himself by altering the pigmentation of his skin to match his environment, appearing practically invisible against any surface. When wounded, The Beast has been shown to bleed out a black, ink-like blood.
In what seems to be an extension of this camouflage ability, The Beast can also assume the guise of a more “human” appearance – being the form he typically first greets wanderers with so as to not scare them off as quickly.
Additionally, he can extend this camouflage to certain external objects with conscious intention, making traps placed throughout Level 5 less noticeable to wanderers.
Interestingly, The Beast also displayed the ability to excrete Moth Jelly. The exact reasoning behind this is unknown, but it is speculated that he holds some sort of connection to Death Moths.
The Beast is rumored to have been a member of the Hānaukai species, from which other high-profile entities such as Koa Kai descend. Furthermore, The Beast is rumored to possess a larger, kraken-like form, which he reveals only when required. Descriptions of this form vary, though few have ever seen it and lived to tell the tale.
The Beast appears to command a godlike degree of power/influence over Level 5, being at his most powerful within it. With his reality warping, he can alter the layout and architecture of the level on a whim. He also holds a certain degree of omniscience within Level 5, always remaining aware of the condition and location of everyone in the hotel. Outside Level 5, The Beast does not have this same degree of power, though he still remains powerful in his own right.
Discovery
The true origins of The Beast remain shrouded in mystery. The first modern sighting took place in 2008, when an M.E.G. operative exploring Level 5 claimed over radio communications to see "a squid-like entity" before the connection was abruptly cut. The operative's fate remains unknown.
The Beast is theorized to be the creator of Death Moths.
