[RECOVERED AUDIO LOG FROM M.E.G. DEVICE – LOG 228-AD]
Recovery Note: This audio recording was recovered from a damaged M.E.G. radio found inside an abandoned warehouse on Level ██. The owner of the device, Scout Thomas, was reported missing shortly afterward.
(Static interference. Heavy, panicked breathing.)
[00:00:02] Thomas: "M.E.G., do you copy? I'm hiding in the warehouse on the eastern side… My leg was torn up during a Hound attack. I'm out of Almond Water. I don't think… I'll make it through the night. My head feels like it's' splitting open. I'm about to become a Wretch…"
[00:00:45] (A faint rustling can be heard outside the warehouse window. Tiny, cautious footsteps slowly approach the opposite corner of the room.)
[00:01:10] Thomas(whispering, voice trembling): "Something's there… Who's that? No… wait… there's something glowing above its head. Rainbow lights… they're beautiful. It doesn't see me. It just sat down against the wall… What's it doing? It pulled the ribbon wrapped around its body… and it's folding it into a star?"
[00:02:15] (Silence. Only a tiny, distant "mhmh!" can be heard from Vynuis. A faint pastel rainbow light slowly slips through the cracks in the wall, gently illuminating Thomas.)
[00:03:40] Thomas(his voice suddenly calm, almost entranced): "Oh my God… What is this…? My leg… it doesn't hurt anymore. My mind… all the fear, all the despair… it's gone. This feeling… it's so warm. Like… someone's holding me. I'm overflowing with inspiration… I can't remember the last time I genuinely wanted to keep moving forward. I've never felt this peaceful… not since I fell into this godforsaken place."
(The recording fast-forwards. For the next four hours, Thomas can be heard breathing steadily, occasionally mumbling incoherent words in a blissful tone while remaining within the aura.)
[04:12:10] (Soft rustling. After remaining there for hours, Vynuis quietly stands up. Ei casually leaves behind a small patch of Star Candy before timidly running away, seemingly afraid of being noticed.)
[04:13:00] Thomas(voice breaking into panic, scratching violently against the wall): "No no! Don't go! Please… come back! Where did the light go?! Why is it dark again?! Give it back… Give me that peace back! I need it! I can't breathe… It hurts… My memories… my fear… it's all coming back!"
[04:15:35](Frantic footsteps rush after the direction Vynuis fled. The sound of Thomas desperately picking up the remaining pieces of Star Candy and stuffing them into his mouth can be heard.)
[04:16:20] Thomas(crying uncontrollably, voice shaking violently): "The candy… her
candy… There's still a little bit of light left… but it's not enough! I have to find her… Who are you? Where are you? I need to smell that rainbow scent one more time… I have to find you… just one more time…"
(Footsteps rapidly fade into the distance.)
(A loud impact is heard.)

[📑 M.E.G. CONFIDENTIAL DOCUMENT]
File ID: INTERVIEW-LOG-08-VYN-01
Field Team: M.E.G. Rescue Team "Omega-4"
Incident Location: Level 8
Interview Subject: Wanderer Mason Vance (Minorly Injured – Conscious)
Subject Status: Recovering from soft tissue injuries and moderate blood loss to the leg.
Agent Markus: Alright, Mason. You're safe at Alpha Base now. Take a deep breath and tell me—how did you and your friend, Harvey Nolan, manage to escape the deepest region of Level 8? Our patrol found both of you at an intersection that doesn't even exist on our maps.
Mason Vance: (His voice trembles as he grips the cup in his hands.) Even now… I still can't believe I'm alive, Agent… Everything that happened in Level 8 felt like a nightmare.
Agent Markus: How long had the two of you been down there?
Mason Vance: I… I don't know exactly. Harvey's watch had stopped working long before that, and I wasn't in any state to keep track of time anymore. Maybe a few hours… maybe longer. All we could do was keep moving, trying to find a way out of that endless cave system.
Agent Markus: And that's when you were attacked?
Mason Vance: Yes… Harvey and I were cornered by a swarm of Moths in the deepest part of the cavern. They kept emerging from the darkness, more and more of them. We tried to run, but the passage ahead kept getting narrower…
Mason Vance: Was that when your leg was injured?
Agent Markus: (He gives a slight nod.) I slipped. A sharp rock tore deep into my leg… I lost so much blood that I couldn't stay on my feet anymore.
Agent Markus: What about Harvey?
Mason Vance: (He falls silent for a few seconds, tightening his grip around the cup.) He… was in much worse shape than I was.
Agent Markus: Take your time. What happened to him?
Mason Vance: A Hound burst out of the darkness. Harvey didn't even have time to react before it slammed him straight into the cave wall. I heard a loud crack… then he collapsed. Blood was pouring from his head, and he lost consciousness almost immediately.
Agent Markus: At that point, did you have any idea how many entities were surrounding the two of you?
Mason Vance: I… I couldn't count them… I didn't even dare look for very long. Everything around us was pitch black. All I could hear were things crawling across the stone floor… the sounds of chewing… and the Hound growling. They were slowly closing in on us.
Agent Markus: So then… were you still able to move?
Mason Vance: No… At least, I didn't think so. My leg couldn't support my weight anymore, and Harvey was unconscious. I couldn't leave him behind.
Agent Markus: What did you do then?
Mason Vance: I just held onto Harvey as tightly as I could… I knew we were going to die. At that moment, I couldn't think about much of anything anymore. There was only one thought left in my mind…
Agent Markus:: What was it?
Mason Vance: I wanted both of us to survive… and make it back home. That's all.
(Mason remains silent for several seconds.)
Mason Vance: Maybe… it was nothing more than a person's final instinct… or perhaps the last flicker of hope born from despair before death finally closed in.
Agent Markus: And it was after that moment that everything began to change?
Mason Vance: …Yes sir.
Agent Markus: Tell me what happened next. Did the entities retreat?
Mason Vance: No… They didn't retreat at all.
Agent Markus: Then what did they do?
Mason Vance: They… suddenly stopped moving.
Agent Markus: All of them at the same time?
Mason Vance: (He gives a slight nod.) Yes. I don't understand why. Just seconds earlier they had been closing in on us, and then suddenly they all stopped. They didn't run away, and they didn't move any closer either… They just stood there.
Agent Markus: Did you notice anything unusual happening at that moment?
Mason Vance: Yes… A scent.
Agent Markus: Describe it.
Mason Vance: It smelled like the first rain of the season… cool and incredibly clean. I know that sounds strange, especially in a place like Level 8, but I'm certain I smelled it. It was the complete opposite of the cave's foul, suffocating stench.
Agent Markus: Were you able to tell where the scent was coming from?
Mason Vance: No. At first it was very faint, then it gradually spread everywhere. I thought I was hallucinating because of the blood loss… but then something else appeared.
Agent Markus: What was it?
Mason Vance: An aura… I don't know what else to call it. It began spreading from deep within the cracks in the rock.
Agent Markus: Did you feel threatened by it?
Mason Vance: No… That's the strange part. I knew I was still in Level 8. I knew the entities were still right in front of me. But when that aura reached me… I stopped panicking. My mind suddenly became calm in a way I can't explain.
Agent Markus: Did it only affect your mental state?
Mason Vance: (He remains silent for a few seconds.) …No.
Agent Markus: Was there something else?
Mason Vance: The pain in my leg… almost disappeared.
Agent Markus: Are you saying your wound was healed?
Mason Vance: No, not at all. The wound was still there. I was still losing blood… but I couldn't feel the pain anymore. It was as if my entire sense of pain had simply been switched off.
Agent Markus: And what about your state of mind?
Mason Vance: (His voice falters slightly, his eyes distant as if reliving the memory.) I suddenly became incredibly clear-headed. I still knew I was in Level 8. I still knew the entities were standing right in front of me… but for the first time, I no longer felt hopeless.
Agent Markus: What did you see after that?
Mason Vance: A faint light… It appeared in the darkness, as if it had emerged out of thin air.
Agent Markus: Was there something inside that light?
Mason Vance: …Yes. (Mason falls silent for several seconds.)
Mason Vance: A girl.
Agent Markus: Please describe the girl in as much detail as possible.
Mason Vance: She appeared so quietly… as though she had stepped out from ribbons of aurora drifting through the darkness.
Agent Markus: Can you describe her appearance in more detail?
Mason Vance: She looked very young… But the thing that left me completely speechless was her eyes.
Agent Markus: Her eyes?
Mason Vance: They shimmered with every color of the rainbow, glowing brightly in the darkness like two stars. I'd never seen eyes like that before. She simply stood there, completely at odds with the filth and damp decay of Level 8… utterly different from the entities surrounding us.
Agent Markus: Did she say anything to you?
Mason Vance: No… Not a single word.
Agent Markus: Then how did the two of you communicate?
Mason Vance: I don't even know if you could really call it communication. She simply looked at us in silence.
Agent Markus: What happened next?
Mason Vance: One of the Moths started moving toward us. I thought it was about to attack… but at that exact moment, she gently raised one hand. (Mason hesitates slightly.)
Agent Markus: Did she attack it?
Mason Vance: No. She didn't even look at it. She simply lifted a finger… and pointed toward a narrow crevice hidden behind a collapsed stalagmite.
Agent Markus: Did you assume it was an escape route?
Mason Vance: …Not exactly. I had no idea what was beyond that crevice. I didn't even know why she wanted me to go that way.
Agent Markus: Yet you followed her?
Mason Vance: I didn't have any other choice.
(Mason remains silent for several seconds.)
Mason Vance: And at that moment… I stopped thinking I was going to die. There was only one thought left in my mind: I had to get Harvey out of that place.
Agent Markus: You were still suffering from a serious leg injury. How were you able to carry him?
Mason Vance: I don't know… Maybe it was because of that aura. The pain had almost completely disappeared, and my mind was unbelievably clear. I hoisted Harvey onto my back and ran as fast as I could toward the crevice.
Agent Markus: What happened when you entered it?
Mason Vance: The space around us suddenly began to distort. It felt as though my body had passed straight through the solid rock of the cave… and then the two of us fell into an entirely different area.
Agent Markus: The boundary zone where Omega-4 found you?
Mason Vance: Exactly.
Agent Markus: Did you see the girl one last time?
Mason Vance: Maybe… When I looked back, she was still standing there.
Agent Markus: What did she do?
Mason Vance: Nothing. She simply watched us… then quietly stepped back into the darkness and disappeared. It was as though… she had never been there at all.
Agent Markus: Thank you, Mason. Everything you've told us is extremely important. However, we still need to verify a few details. According to your testimony, the girl never spoke a single word?
Mason Vance: That's right… But strangely enough, I still felt like I understood what she wanted. She never gave me any orders, nor did she urge me forward. She simply… showed me the way.
Agent Markus: Did you hear a voice inside your head? Or experience any form of communication that you would describe as telepathic?
Mason Vance: No. There wasn't any voice at all. No words, no images appeared in my mind. I just… understood her intentions. Like when someone points in a direction, and you instinctively know that's where you should go.
Agent Markus: And you trusted her immediately?
Mason Vance: I don't know if I'd call it trust… But by then, I no longer felt hopeless. There was only one thought left in my head: I had to get Harvey out of there.
Agent Markus: During the entire encounter, did she make any direct physical contact with either of you? Did she touch you, heal your injuries, or use any other abilities?
Mason Vance: No. She never touched either of us.
Agent Markus: And your injuries?
Mason Vance: They were still there. Like I said, she didn't heal them. I simply couldn't feel the pain anymore.
Agent Markus: Did she directly engage any of the entities?
Mason Vance: No… That's what made it so strange.
Agent Markus: What do you mean?
Mason Vance: She didn't do anything to them. She didn't attack them. She didn't threaten them… But I had the distinct feeling that the entities were watching her as well.
Agent Markus: Are you certain about that?
Mason Vance: Fairly certain. They didn't move toward us, and they didn't flee either. They simply stood there… as though they were hesitating in the face of her presence.
Agent Markus: Do you believe they were afraid of her?
Mason Vance: …I don't know. If it had been fear, I think they would have run away. But they didn't. They just stood there… watching.
Agent Markus: Are you certain she was human?
Mason Vance: Actually…No. (A silence follows for approximately six seconds.)
Mason Vance: If she were human… no one could have appeared like that. But if she wasn't… then I don't know what to call her. All I know is… if she hadn't appeared that day, Harvey and I would have died in Level 8.
Agent Markus: Understood. We'll compare your testimony with Harvey Nolan's once he regains consciousness. Thank you for your cooperation, Mason.

Field Team: M.E.G. Rescue Team "Omega-4"
Incident Location: Level 8
Interview Subject: Wanderer Harvey Nolan (Severely Injured – Visually Impaired)
Subject Status: Recovering from severe cranial trauma, fractured ribs, and acute blood loss. The subject has passed the critical stage but remains in extremely weak physical condition.
Agent Valerie: (The sound of a chair being pulled back. Her voice is low and gentle.) Hang in there a little longer, Harvey. I'm Valerie, with Omega-4. The doctors only gave me five minutes, so I'll keep this brief. If you're feeling too exhausted, just tell me and we'll stop immediately.
Harvey Nolan: (Heavy breathing through an oxygen mask.) …Okay…
Agent Valerie: Do you remember the last thing that happened before the rescue team brought you here?
Harvey Nolan: (Silent for several seconds.) …Everything's… blurry… I… can't remember much…
Agent Valerie: That's alright. Just tell me whatever you can remember. It doesn't have to be in order.
Harvey Nolan: Blood… Blood kept running down from my head… I couldn't see anything anymore… Everything was just… red… and then… darkness.
Agent Valerie: What caused your injuries?
Harvey Nolan: (Winces in pain.) A Hound… It came at me too fast… then slammed me straight into the cave wall…
(Harvey takes a sharp breath, gripping the blanket tightly.)
Harvey Nolan: I heard… something crack… My chest hurt… so badly… I couldn't breathe…
Agent Valerie: Were you still conscious after that?
Harvey Nolan: For… a little while… My whole body felt freezing cold… I couldn't feel my arms or legs anymore…
Agent Valerie: Where was Mason during all of this?
Harvey Nolan: (His eyes begin to redden.) He… kept calling my name… He was screaming… I could even hear him… crying…
(The heart monitor begins to beep slightly faster.)
Agent Valerie: Take it easy, Harvey. There's no need to rush.
Harvey Nolan: Ah… S-Sorry…
Agent Valerie: It's alright. What's the last thing you remember before everything changed?
Harvey Nolan: I… knew I was going to die… The only thing I could think about was… I wished… we'd never stepped into Level 8… I wished… I hadn't become a burden to Mason…
(Harvey pauses, breathing heavily.)
Agent Valerie: And then?
Harvey Nolan: After that… everything… began to change…
Agent Valerie: Mason told us that just before the two of you escaped Level 8, a young girl appeared and showed you the way out. Did you see her?
Agent Valerie: (Shakes his head slightly, his lips trembling.) …A girl?… No… I couldn't see anything clearly. My eyes… I could barely keep them open anymore. Everything around me was just darkness… and the growling of the monsters.
Agent Valerie: Then what was the last thing you remember?
Harvey Nolan: (Silent for a few seconds.) …A scent.
Agent Valerie: A scent?
Harvey Nolan: Yeah… It was strange… Sweet… unbelievably fresh. It smelled just like the first rainfall back in my hometown… So sweet… so pure… It completely washed away the foul, damp stench of the cave.
Agent Valerie: What happened after you noticed the scent?
Harvey Nolan: …Something… began to appear.
Agent Valerie: What was it?
Harvey Nolan: A… light. I don't really know how to describe it… It wasn't blinding… It was just… warm.
Agent Valerie: Were you able to make out its shape?
Harvey Nolan: No… It was just… a mass of light. It spread gently like drifting clouds… shimmering with tiny specks that looked like stardust.
Agent Valerie: Did it come closer to you?
Harvey Nolan: (Nods faintly.) …Yeah… It slowly wrapped around me.
Agent Valerie: What happened when it touched you?
Harvey Nolan: (His voice catches in his throat.) Oh God… it felt like a miracle. The pain in my head… in my chest… all of it just disappeared.
Agent Valerie: Are you saying your injuries were healed?
Harvey Nolan:: No… Not exactly. My injuries were still there… but I couldn't feel the pain anymore. It was as if… every nerve that carried pain had gone completely numb.
Agent Valerie: Other than the pain disappearing, did you experience anything else?
Harvey Nolan: Yes… The fear… the despair… all of it vanished. In its place was… a feeling of absolute peace… and an overwhelming will to keep going. It wouldn't let me give up… It wouldn't let me close my eyes.
Agent Valerie: What do you remember after that?
Harvey Nolan: I heard Mason shouting… then he threw me over his shoulder. I just held onto him as tightly as I could… That light stayed around us… all the way until we noclipped straight through the cave wall…
Agent Valerie: (Quickly writing notes into the report.) You're safe in the medical ward now. The doctors have already given you the strongest painkillers we have. Are you still feeling any discomfort?
Harvey Nolan: (He stares blankly at the ceiling for a long moment.) …Yes.
Agent Valerie: Is it your injuries?
Harvey Nolan: …No.
Agent Valerie: Then what is it?
Harvey Nolan: (His voice grows quieter.) Your medicine… it doesn't help, Agent Valerie.
Agent Valerie: You mean it isn't relieving the pain?
Harvey Nolan: No… It numbs the pain… but it doesn't fill… this feeling.
Agent Valerie: What feeling?
Harvey Nolan: Emptiness…
(Harvey remains silent for several seconds.)
Harvey Nolan: Ever since I woke up… I've felt so empty… so unbearably empty that it's driving me insane.
Agent Valerie: Empty because of what?
Harvey Nolan: I… miss it.
Agent Valerie: "It"?
Harvey Nolan: That light… That scent… That feeling of peace… (Harvey's voice begins to tremble.)
Harvey Nolan: I don't want to stay in this room that reeks of antiseptic anymore… I want to go back to that dark cave… I know it sounds insane… But I want to go back there… Not because I want to die… I just want to feel that light again… just one more time…
(The heart monitor begins beeping faster as Harvey grows increasingly agitated.)
Agent Valerie: Harvey… look at me!
Harvey Nolan: (Breathing heavily.) I… I know this sounds insane… But… I think… I'm addicted to it…
(His heart rate suddenly spikes. The cardiac monitor sounds an alarm.)
Agent Valerie: Nurse!
(Valerie immediately places a reassuring hand on Harvey's shoulder while signaling the medical staff to enter the room.)
Agent Valerie: Calm Harvey. You're safe now. We'll take care of you.
