HABITAT(S): Levels 389, 389.9
An artistic depiction of The Game Player.
Description
Entity 299, also known as "The Game Player", is similar in appearance to The Game Master, albeit lacking her power and control over Level 389. He seems to function as a sort of "pacifier" for The Game Master, actively working to keep her from cheating in games or punishing wanderers too harshly.
Behaviors
The Game Player is relatively passive, having a timid demeanor and expressed disinterest in harming humans. He even appears to be apprehensive of The Game Master’s more violent games, frequently trying to stop possible harm or loss of life due to them. However, in spite of his protests, he does not always get through to The Game Master, who may just ignore him.
The Game Player can be found slumped against a wall in his idle state. However, he's most commonly found playing games or chatting with the Game Master. The Game Master has shown great care for The Game Player, sparing him from the fate wanderers face from losing her games. They behave mostly as friends. This is notable due to the Game Master's typical lack of compassion towards most beings in general.
While The Game Player does not have power over Level 389, he does have power over Level 389.9, which serves as his domain. When present, he's able to shift and change the environment. Aside from his control over his level, he has also been seen to teleport directly to 389.9, usually whenever intimidated or threatened.
Biology
The Game Player's body is nearly identical to that of The Game Master, with only slight differences. His "outfit" is made of dark blue and purple fabric, with patches and stitches across his body indicating prior damage. His face is a glass screen displaying a frowning grin by default, with a yellow triangular right eye and square-shaped left eye tilted 45°. Notably, his screen and his voice can occasionally "glitch", causing him to stutter robotically. Small golden bells are attached to the tips of his hat and shoes, and three yellow buttons are fastened to his torso. Notably, he lacks the marionette strings that The Game Master has. Instead, he has a wire armature as a skeleton, allowing him to walk on his own.
Discovery
The Game Player (along with Level 389.9) was initially discovered by researcher Riley Ramirez. During an attempted exploration of Level 389, Ramirez encountered the entrance to Level 389.9 and chose to investigate. After Entity 299 was discovered, a basic interview was conducted on the spot.
