Description
Entity 41, also referred to as The Painter, is a benevolent entity overseeing the exhibitions of The Cozy Gallery. Early records of her presence can be traced back to the establishment of the MEG in 2012, and she was among the initial entities to be documented by what would become the modern Frontline Explorers Regiment.
The Gallery's Hostess
the young hostess, circa 2016
The Painter manifests as an anthropomorphic entity resembling an adolescent girl, adorned in clubmaster glasses and faded pajamas. Occupying the Cozy Gallery on Level 57, The Painter assumes the role of the presumed artist responsible for the gallery's exhibitions. Preferring seclusion, she seldom ventures beyond her studio, dedicating the majority of her time to the creation of more paintings.
A cheerful and upbeat individual, The Painter routinely engages with wanderers, extending invitations to attend her exhibitions and enthusiastically welcoming them into her studio for painting sessions and small talk. During these visits, she demonstrates remarkable command over various aspects of The Cozy Gallery, displaying the ability to alter its appearance at will and even meld into the walls itself.
Despite her amiable nature, The Painter exhibits great resistance concerning discussions regarding her origin and how she assumed control of the Gallery. Notably, she lacks utter awareness of The Frontrooms and demonstrates complete forgetfulness despite being repeatedly apprised of the dimension. As of current, visitors are recommended to avoid discussing the topic as not to cause the entity discomfort.
Addendum:
Observations of interactions between the entity and MEG personnel. The Painter's threat level is classified as 0B+. Despite her presumed age, she displays remarkable sophistication, particularly in the domain of visual perception. There is no indication that she poses any danger to wanderers.
The Clover Logs
A collection of interaction logs conducted as an evaluation of the entity within the framework of the Homing Bird Project. These interactions below seek to determine the compatibility of the subject with the propositioned goals of the program.
LOGGING…
October 2nd, 2021
An "assigned accompanier" huh? In this case, it better be something. Though, on second thought, I'd rather not miss my teatime with Ellie on behalf of some wayward entity…
(Rapid footsteps, approaching the Cozy Gallery.)
S. Cloverfield: My dear friend, do keep up!
(Two sets of labored breathing; one appears keen and focused, the other preoccupied and uneven.)
Dr Ale: Another instance of a reality-bender, possesses oeuvre manufacturing capabilities no less…
(His companion spares him a bewildered look, before shouldering open the double doors to the gallery.)
Dr Ale: …First records dating back to the 1990s. No sign of mental deterioration despite prolonged periods of complete solitude. Has not appeared to age a single day. Unclear if subject possesses human origins…
(The operative sighs.)
Dr Ale: Hopefully, we didn't just walk into another Entity Null situation.
S. Cloverfield: Jeez Thorny (wheezing heavily) – cut it some flack; you haven't even met her. I've known this girl for four years and she's really not that different from the teens back in eleven. Just – she sometimes melds into paint when bothered – so what? You know how we all are 'round here. Life sometimes throws us a few curveballs and all we could do is convert to pure pigment. Perfectly healthy part of growing up.
(She catches her breath and seems to come to something.)
S. Cloverfield: Though Thorny, you've only been here since last Thursday, huh?
Dr. Ale: Exactly. I am not your friend. Now get me to your little entity and let's see what this just-like-any-other-teen has to offer me.
The archivisit frowns, the beginning of a pout curling around her lips.)
S. Cloverfield: She won't like you talking about her like that, you know? She's really nothing like any lass you've seen before. Like look at these paintings! I'll show you.
Dr. Ale: Yes, yes. Blow my mind. The studio is this way, isn't it?
S. Cloverfield: Yes…I mean, no (she frowns) – it's this way. Or at least I think so…gimme a minute—
???: Shallen!
(A flurry of footsteps whirlwinds down the hall and throws herself into the archivist's arms. Cloverfield freezes and yelps with surprise. Thorny stares.)
???: Oh, you haven't been here in days. And flowers again? For me? Oh Shallen, how could you.
(The figure takes the bundle of sunflowers from Thorny's arms. The operative continues to stare)
(The beneficiary takes the time to catch a whiff of the blossoms from up close. Cloverfield recovers and pats away at unseen stains caught in her skirt.)
???: Oh these are simply wonderful. On account of the flowers, I will forgive you for not visiting for so long. Is there anything you'd like to say to me, Shallen?
S. Cloverfield: (laughs weakly) This gifter shall graciously accept her lady's generosity. She hopes Your Highness finds the offer of flowers satisfying.
???: Oh I shall.
(The entity catches Dr. Ale's eye and winks. Thorny looks on a little stunned)
S. Cloverfield: Oh excuse me! I forgot to introduce you two. Ale Thorny, this is the gallery's painter. Ms. Painter, this is—
The Painter: —You, her dear sunflower man. (she watches Thorny's face closely) Welcome to my gallery, Mr. Thorny!
Dr. Ale: (a little breathless) Right.
The Painter: (claps hands) Ah, of course! How could I have forgotten? Mr. Thorny, please come this way – I have yet to show you all the ammenities our gallery has to offer! Come along now – yes Shallen, give him a hand (she turns briskly) – and onwards to the Cozy Studio! You won't believe what I have in store just in time…
(She marches off and Cloverfield follows loyally behind her, dragging the befuzzeled operative along. Said operative was beginning to get the feeling that he was being cleverly hookwinked into all of this.)
S. Cloverfield: Come on, (she tugs gently on his coat) Thorny! You won't want to keep Her Majesty waiting!
Dr. Ale: I was right, you were right. She is…something.
S. Cloverfield: Something? (the archivist huffs)
S. Cloverfield: Yeah, she's one of a kind.
