For centuries, the operational mandate of the Iron Fist has been the systematic study and eradication of the false gods that infest this reality. We have cataloged their weaknesses, weathered their power, and successfully terminated or neutralized numerous targets. Our understanding of their nature, while incomplete, has been sufficient. We have operated under the assumption that these beings, while capable of forming alliances and even affections, were fundamentally singular and isolated points of ontological threat.

That assumption is now obsolete.

Recent intelligence, confirmed by multiple assets within Mercury, has verified the existence of two previously unknown godlike entities. More alarmingly, these are not spontaneous manifestations nor newly ascended beings. They are, in fact, the direct offspring of a union between two of our highest-priority and most resilient targets: Entities 103 and 700.

The implications of this development cannot be overstated. We are no longer dealing with singular threats, but a lineage. The recent emergence of “hybrid avatars” is neither an isolated phenomenon (see: SHALTOKOL and Hubris), and represents an exponential escalation in the war we wage. The age of false gods is over. We cannot, and will not, permit their vile children to inherit our world.

The following document the foundational analysis of these twin threats, compiling observational data and theoretical analysis; outlining their known characteristics, hypothesized capabilities, and preliminary strategies for their eventual containment and neutralization. All information has been gathered through covert surveillance operations, intercepted communications between M.E.G. operatives, and high-risk field observations conducted by Jupiter Finger assets. Several research operatives were lost in the acquisition of this intelligence. Direct interaction is strictly forbidden pending the development and approval of viable neutralization protocols.

I — Overview

Ceres and Nebula are twin scions born of Solaris, avatar of Space, and Gatekeeper (now reconstituted as “The Keymaster”), avatar of Access. Their emergence occurred in secrecy late into the Lost Era, during the period of interregnum following Hoofstaad’s fall when Gatekeeper withdrew to his tower and Solaris maintained custodianship of the cosmic levels. Having transpired without Gatekeeper’s knowledge at the time, and shortly preceding his termination by Mercury, it thus remains absent from his cultic registers. Gatekeeper’s death and subsequent reconstitution as The Keymaster severed conventional paternal contact, and Solaris concealed the offspring until the modern day.

The Keymaster learned of the twins only following his recent restoration and mnemonic reintegration. This has seemingly precipitated an unstable family triad: a guilt-laden Starmother, a re-arisen threshold-warden, and two daughters whose cognitive ages belie cosmological reach. In the present era, they have all been observed together during limited reunification efforts among surviving Pantheon members. The twins are currently under joint protection of The Keymaster and Solaris and are presumed to reside in a moving custody circuit spanning The Hub’s inner sanctum and Solaris-jurisdicted levels.

II — Nature

Though resembling avatars in many regards (including origins in them), Ceres and Nebula are not necessarily of the same pure nature as their progenitors. However, their ability to effect The Backrooms is of a scale similar enough to warrant a degree of threat classification typically assigned to avatars.

Hybrids produced by avatars may inherit constrained channels into conceptual flow, with amplitude contingent on need, recognition, and nurture. The twins’ hybridization yields a complementary dyad, mirroring recorded binary scion patterns elsewhere in Pantheonic lineage where conjoined aspects divide by condensation and diffusion.
Their signatures resolve into a superposed dual-phase anatomy: an Accessive lattice (Keymaster-line) braided through an Aetheric-spatial sheath (Solaris-line). In standard avatars, these are fused at a conceptual strata; for these two, the linkages are visibly orthogonal and, crucially, separable under stress — perhaps a function of their lineage being conjoined rather than synthesized. The following structures are recurrent in instrumented observation.

From The Keymaster’s domain, both inherit command of threshold syntax and invitation/denial logic: syllabic keys, lock-state imposition, and total mastery of no-clipping. Ceres applies it to materials by imprinting keyways into material with her hands; Nebula applies it to itineraries by imprinting way-logic into air and thought.
From Solaris’ domain, both inherit a feel for the fabric of space and its long-cycling respiration: the movements of bodies, pruning of dead mass, and controlled rupture of firmament through blackhole intermediaries. Ceres localizes this into firm, quiet gravity; Nebula disperses it into star-wind and folds.
Neither exhibits The Keymaster’s corrosive blood nor his pocket-dimension faculty. Neither exhibits Solaris’ black-hole blade nor her catastrophic star-feeding. Instead they show safe, subcritical derivatives: Ceres can generate “deadweight” fields peaking in the tens of g’s over a meter-scale volume; Nebula can open Blips no larger than a human stride and keep them translucent and non-consumptive.

A dynamic mantle of densified spacetime — the Starmother’s hallmark — armors both forms. In Ceres, the mantle coalesces into discrete, hair-anchored micro-holes whose Schwarzschild radii fluctuate in the tens to hundreds of microns, rimmed by pale accretion halos that never thermally couple to living tissue. They evaporate via a moderated Hawking-like bleed that appears under conscious control; the wells “eat” dust, slag, and loose debris with a strong preference for oxidized metal. In Nebula, the sheath remains diffuse, circulating around her dermal filaments; when she exhales, the local vacuum takes on phase structure, seeded with sub-visible dust and ionization that map safe currents through null-G.

Intermittent key-sigil microtopologies course through both bodies along meridians and sutures. These are not tattoos but standing waveforms in the liminal substrate, briefly trapping causality in glyph shapes before discharging into nonlocal effects. When active, Ceres opens “thin” slots in the local geometry that behave like turning locks. Nebula resolves routes, turning undifferentiated space into corridors, “softening” matter to permit clean no-clip transit without shear.

Preliminary typology suggests three states:

  • Veiled - cosmic disguise; minimal coupling to local frames.
  • Present - humanoid; moderate interaction; Accessive/Spatial channels loosely braided.
  • Overreach - rare; channels pulled tight, producing significant local geometric agency.

The Overreach profile has only been glimpsed: Ceres’s micro-wells formed a continuous ribbon along her hair, and Nebula’s body markings illuminated Level 78's entire station with a wide-field aurora. Both immediately withdrew thereafter.

Damage and fatigue have been inferred but not observed directly. During a post-blip turbulence episode, Ceres’s hair-wells multiplied spontaneously and then inverted, collapsing with enough force to raster receivers in violet static. Nebula interposed, suffusing effected area with her markings; the inversion quenched, after which both entities assumed their Veiled state for an extended interval. This mirrors Solaris’ Dormant state after overexertion and The Keymaster’s tendency to seal and sequester thresholds. If a biological “limit” exists, it is expressed as a behavioral constraint' they minimize exposure and hold their emissions below the station’s destabilization curve.

III — Abilities

The twins exhibit hybridized expressions of their parents’ domains: Accessive mechanics expressed through spatial substrates, and spatial mechanics expressed through accessive substrates. Each sister resolves this hybrid differently, resulting in complementary but distinct capabilities and threat profiles. Both display limited but dangerous affinity with threshold logic and noclip-key syllables, inherited through the paternal line. Their continued maturation correlates with measurable anomalies in Level 78’s blip ecology and transient distortions along Hub-adjacent corridors.

Ceres

Ceres can assume the form of a star when observed from a distance, becoming indistinguishable from non-anomalous celestial bodies. This ability appears derived from Solaris' nature as an avatar of Space. Surveillance footage confirms Ceres possesses a limited ability to tear localized holes in spacetime, though at a significantly reduced scale compared to Solaris. These tears typically manifest as small (3-5cm diameter) black hole-like apertures that can transport matter across short distances. Like her mother, Ceres has demonstrated the capacity to absorb matter through the miniature black holes interwoven in her hair, though the scale and efficiency appear significantly reduced compared to Solaris.

Ceres has demonstrated ability to unlock specific types of doors and barriers without physical contact. Unlike her father, this ability appears limited to physical barriers rather than metaphysical ones. She can sense the symbolic teeth of Level Keys and can fashion “dumb keys” that open mundane locks without affecting Level doors. When presented with an authentic Level Key, she can locate and stabilize entrances it belongs to, and prevent malicious no-clip events. Field agents report Ceres can perform controlled no-clipping between specific levels with which she has familiarity, though this appears to cause her considerable strain.

Theoretical Abilities (Unconfirmed)

Based on parentage, the following capabilities are theorized but not yet observed:

  • Ceres may be able to create simplified or temporary Level Keys for levels with which she has strong connection.
  • As daughter of Solaris, she may possess the ability to ignite stellar reactions on a small scale.
  • The Keymaster's ability to access memories may manifest in Ceres as limited mind-reading or memory extraction capabilities.

Nebula

Nebula can assume the form of a literal nebula when observed from a distance, potentially providing superior concealment due to the diffuse nature of actual nebulae. This disguise extends to approximately 3 cubic light-years when fully deployed. In direct contrast to her sister's consumption abilities, Nebula has demonstrated limited capacity to generate matter from apparent nothingness. Analysis suggests this may be accomplished by converting energy to matter through unknown means. The entity can emit controlled bursts of various forms of electromagnetic radiation, primarily in the visible spectrum but occasionally extending into ultraviolet and infrared ranges.

Unlike Ceres' tearing of spacetime, Nebula appears to fold space in a manner that allows her to traverse distances without creating destructive apertures. This method appears more refined but potentially less powerful than her sister's approach. Limited evidence suggests Nebula can induce feelings of calm and wonder in proximate observers, similar to but distinct from Entity 405's documented effects. Like her father, Nebula can view The Hub’s entirety as a vector field and can dampen or steepen the gradient toward specific doors, accelerating or decelerating movement towards them. She cannot, however, force a locked level door to yield.

Theoretical Abilities (Unconfirmed)

Based on parentage and observed behavioral patterns, the following capabilities are theorized:

  • As daughter of Solaris, Nebula may possess the ability to accelerate stellar formation processes within actual nebulae.
  • Complementary to The Keymaster's memory access abilities, Nebula may be able to preserve or restore memories rather than simply accessing them.
  • Her stabilizing presence may serve as a counterbalance to Ceres' disruptive abilities, potentially allowing her to prevent unwanted no-clipping or spatial anomalies.

IV — OPERATION: GOD-SHATTERING STAR

Being descended from avatars, the same general vulnerabilities apply. In regards to the twins, their hybridization means that degrading either the Access channel or the Space channel reduces both their confidence and their ceiling, even when the other channel remains intact. Second, their twin resonance amplifies their effects when within a few meters of one another, but it also creates mutual dependency: injure one channel or isolate one twin, and the other bleeds efficiency in efforts to compensate.

For Ceres, Access-suppression produces the steepest falloff. For Nebula, Space-suppression produces the steepest falloff. Cross-suppression still degrades both, but at lower rates. The safest path is a synchronous, staged isolation that first denies Ceres of Access and Nebula of Space, followed by custody in separated, concept-dampened habitats.

Technology of Interest

Each of these tools would require the effort and labor of Sol to produce, and proper calibration to avoid collateral harm to unaffiliated wanderers and infrastructure.

Tier 1: Bait and Entrapment

Decoy Keys: manufactured hollow icons that resonate like level keys but lack true function. Will briefly occupy Ceres’ attention and leave her distracted.

Shepherd’s Chorus: Imitation of Nebula’s whisper-lattice to coax her into safe zones.

Tier 2: Gravitational Quenching

Magnetar Proxy Array (MPA-405): Superconducting coil tridents tuned to Entity 405’s last stable spectra; emits rotationally modulated fields to quench micro-singularity growth. Theoretically condenses Nebula’s halo and reduces Ceres’ hair-seed count by 30–40%, simplifying silhouette capture.

Chandrasekhar Nets: Metamaterial mesh with negative-index plates arranged in icosahedral buckles. Redirects seedlets into nets to spool and cool; akin to trawling without cutting. Theoretical safe capture of ≤9 seedlets per sweep. Risk of tearing if Ceres spikes; requires real-time tension modulation by Sol technicians.

Eventide Harp: A ring of gravitational resonators that summon standing waves at L1 nodes. Creates lullaby-like stabilization that encourages shift into Dormant state. High theoretical effectiveness on Nebula, moderate theoretical effectiveness on Ceres.

Tier 3: Access Suppression

Deadbolt Field (DBF): A runic anti-key lattice derived from deconvolved Hub symbols deployed as a volumetric grid. Converts Access intent into inert boundary heat, interfering with threshold glyph propagation and scattering access syntax before it crystallizes.

Hermes Lattice Mk II: Derived from the inverted principles of the now-defunct Hermes Device. May generate an outwardly quiescent field of phase-incoherent, low-amplitude “blank mile” jump signatures in which itineraries cannot form and keys cannot find locks. This “jams” ride-along coupling and scrambles destination selection.

Null-Rune Ankle Cuffs: Wearable containment keyed to sisters’ Access spectra; bond only during Dormant onset to avoid injury.

Tier 4: Memorial Occlusion

Eunoia Fog: A reversible, boundary-limited memetic scrim that obscures proper names and attributions within a radius. Attenuates the “being-known” vector to soften avatar invulnerability.

Nostalgia shards: Deploys controlled artifact fragments harvested from level 404 to siphon excessive mythic charge to bleed-off fanatical attention.

Memory-dimming baths: solution of diluted Memory Juice to attenuate the reinforcement feedback loop between recognition and authority; when paired with visual and onomastic hygiene, they slow the recovery of avatarhood.

Containment Architecture

Cassiopeia Cradle (CC-2): A low-G, low-shear, echo-dampened, soft-lit chamber with continuous onomastic suppression, MPA-405 lining, Deadbolt nodes in the ceiling and floor, and a central lumen fog with which to “breathe”.

Protocol Overview

Ceres

Begin with luring her to a pre-rigged hinge locus, such as a heavy vault door framed by an embedded non-orientable lattice. Present an apparent structural failure with human lives at stake to trigger her stabilizer reflex. As she engages and imprints, flood the frame with counter-glyph noise from keyblank sinks — absorptive substrates etched with sacrificial false keyways — to decoy her imprints away from the true load paths. While she is occupied, bring magneto-torsion anchors online around the perimeter to stiffen local curvature and deny her gravity bracing. When her access syntax begins to fragment, deploy a reverse-Hermes blank mile overlapping the doorway to prevent emergent rerouting. Containment proceeds by shuttering a segmented, hinge-rich corridor behind her, each segment a separate non-orientable cage. Transfer to long-term custody in Cassiopeia Cradle.

Nebula

Begin with baiting her shepherding impulse. Seed a corridor complex with orchestrated but nonlethal chaos — flame simulations, erratic entity echoes — designed to draw her into laying down routes and glamours. As she begins folding, trigger a phased array of magneto-torsion anchors to create a stable, high-Q torsion lattice that captures and drains micro-Blips without allowing them to couple. Lay reverse-Hermes blank miles along the axes of her intended paths so that folds fail to lock. As her space channel loses traction, introduce access noise via a mobile keyblank cloud that prevents her from compelling trajectories. With her vector field now shallow, decelerate her movement with gentle deadweight fields, avoiding spikes that might force her to escalate. Transfer to long-term custody in Cassiopeia Cradle.

Joint contingency and parental interference

Both parents may intervene during containment efforts. Solaris will attempt to breach with demolition; The Keymaster will attempt to negotiate access, banish personnel, or invert locks. Counter-Solaris measures rely on dispersal, heat sinks, and torque lattices to bleed black-hole sprouts before they form; her documented reluctance to harm life can be leveraged through controlled civilian presence already evacuated beyond real risk but within her perception.
Counter-Keymaster measures rely on isolation from authentic Level Keys, denial of minds for him to unlock, and hardening against Level HELP ejection through layered non-orientable cages. If either parent arrives, pursuit of capture should shift to damage control with fallback goals: record signatures, test new dampeners, and disengage with minimal casualties.
