JustinRivers

[NAME]: Justin Rivers

Location: Base Alpha
Affiliations: The Major Explorer Group (co-founder)

Justin Rivers, known to the M.E.G. as Overseer Justin, is one of the most influential figures in the modern-day Backrooms — being the first of the Major Explorer Group's three Overseers. Originally, he was just a boy with great determination and willpower. With hard work and many struggles, he was able to achieve what he gained in present day.

Description

Justin Rivers stands at 6’1 and weighs around 150 pounds. He apppears as a Caucasian male of French-Canadian descent. He has fair skin with a lightly freckled face, short brown hair and brown eyes, and a light beard. He most often wears casual clothing, but will wear M.E.G attire in professional settings. He is armed with a modified bolt action rifle which can hold both standard and Firesalt rounds, as a means of self-protection.

Personality

Justin Rivers is medically diagnosed to be on the Autism spectrum, though this has not seemed to impair him or inhibit his duties in any obvious way.

He is known to be cordial and affectionate towards others, being a good-hearted man and offering his kindness to most. Despite this, he can still be firm whenever needed, especially in more dangerous situations.

Overseer Kat, Justin's sister, states: "He has the perfect balance required for a leader; both strength and softness in his heart, which take turns as needed."

However, Overseer Kat also claimed that Justin has a habit of putting work and other people before his own needs, sometimes to the extent of neglecting his own health. He may tend to forget to take breaks or even eat at all. This has occasionally caused him to suffer from health complications, as his malnutrition has given him a slender frame.

However, he rarely exits the premises of a M.E.G. outpost unless necessary.

History

Before no-clipping into the Backrooms, Overseer Justin lived a normal life in The Frontrooms alongside his older sister, Katherine Rivers. He had a close group of friends by his side during his youth; those being Andrew Donovan, Reed Lestry, and Jessica Ryans — all of which having gone on to become important members of the M.E.G.

In 2012, following an incident at when exploring an abandoned mall in his childhood, Justin and his friends ended up in the Backrooms. Despite being afraid and confused, he was able to maintain the morale of his group after reuniting in Level 1, and guided them throughout the early levels. The group was able to survive several months in the Backrooms, while Justin began researching the levels they were exploring and documenting them in great detail. After observing the explorer communities within Level 1, which acted as a team that shared resources and information on levels, Overseer Justin pitched the idea of their own exploration group to his companions, marking the beginning of the M.E.G.'s founding

With the construction of Base Alpha and other minor bases for the M.E.G. initiated by Overseer Andrew, Overseer Justin had the goal of expanding his original idea of the exploration group. He desired to create something that could inspire others and offer assistance to as many wanderers as possible. In order to do so, the group needed to grow into something more than just a small closed off team of friends.
In 2013, Justin succesfully created the General Public Database (GPD), a network used to store information discovered about various aspects of The Backrooms such as levels, entities, objects and phenomena. The program first began as a prototype, before being refined in later years.

With the creation of the database, Overseer Justin's popularity grew amongst wanderers. For a time, he was one its primary contributors, being involved in the creation of notable entries such as TH3 SH4DY GR3Y, Icarus Procidens, and The Gearmaker.

During the early beginnings of 2014, Overseer Justin began promoting the young M.E.G. as a way to garner more new members. Seeing the recent successes achieved by the M.E.G., many wanderers decided to join the group. Its members were primarily explorers from smaller groups, but there were also a great amount seeking asylum from the dangers of The Backrooms. During this time, their ranks were filled with many key members such as Eden G, A. River, Olivia Bellerose, and Tournesol. By then, the M.E.G. had acquired many resources through trading and exploration, allowing the group to protect and maintain the safety of wanderers seeking shelter. When the number of members increased, Overseer Justin decided to divide the group into several teams, each specializing in a different profession and residing in their own outposts. The first of these teams to be created were Compass Point, Wild Warriors, Lock Breakers, Quick Match, Track Mappers, Life Line and First Response.

Over time, more teams were created to fill the gaps on missing positions, such as the "Archivists" who compiled research for entries and maintained the database. With this kind of organization, the M.E.G. was able to flourish and grow with each passing year. In present time, the M.E.G. has reached a state of stability and greatness with the ideas of Overseer Justin, which remain vital to its structure.

Other than his achievements and feats, Overseer Justin also has the important role of Overseer to maintain. His job consists of responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Monitoring database activity and content.
  • Participating in discussions regarding the state of bases, teams, and members.
  • Taking part in discussions regarding promotion and demotion of prominent members
  • Many other tasks regarding the well-being of the group.

Despite his role, he must still adhere to the decision of the other Overseers in order to maintain a balanced judgment.
