Info

Like the philosopher, I think that nothing is communicable by the art of writing. Bothersome and trivial details have no place in my spirit, which is prepared for all that is vast and grand.

Transcript: M.E.G. Oversight Meeting, 03/13/2024

Footage and audio obtained via A.I.D.E.N. unit assigned as Oversight bodyguard.

Overseer B: [sighs] There'd better be a damn good reason why you called this meeting, Justin

Overseer A: [grinning enthusiastically, looking between B and C] Trust me, there is. I think we're onto something big here, guys — with Level 611, I mean.

Overseer C: The single room sealed off by a boulder? What could be so special about that?

Overseer A: No, no, you don't get it. There's obviously more to it. Consider the mural of the minotaur. I swear I remember there being a minotaur in Level 51…unless that was some kind of Mandela Effect. But anyways, consider the symbol on the boulder.

Overseer C: [rolling his eyes] Okay, there's a religious symbol… so what? It's probably just some tomb where The Lost interred their dead.

Overseer A: Well, a few days ago I was combing through to the The Lost's archives to see if I could find anything relevant to Level 611. Lo and behold… [He slaps a stack of files onto the desk.]

[Overseer B and C look towards each other, then to the papers, slowly leafing through them and skimming over the text.]

Overseer B: So let me get this straight — you think Level 611 is actually some kind of giant labyrinth?

Overseer A: Oh, not just any labyrinth… [he picks out a particular paper from the stack of files. It is visibly old and worn, but a faded sketch of a map can be vaguely made out.] Look familiar?

Overseer C: [squinting] It…looks like the symbol of The Lost's religion?

Overseer A: Bingo! Get it now? Level 611 is actually a maze, but the map has been in front of us all this time. The symbol of The Lost's religion is the map!

Overseer B: [slowly shaking her head] I don't know, this all seems kinda far-fetched…

Overseer A: [scoffs] Really? After everything we've experienced, that is far-fetched to you? [He looks down at the table.] If my hunch is true, then Level 611 could be one of the most important levels in The Backrooms. It might hold all the answers to our biggest questions; the origins of The Backrooms, maybe even an exit

Overseer C: A 'hunch' isn't enough to go off of, here. We could just end up wasting our time, resources, and even human lives.

Overseer B: [nods] I have to agree with Andy, here.

Overseer A: C'mon, Kat, don't you remember how all this started? We were explorers, adventurers, trying to find treasure!

Overseer B: We were kids, Justin. And we had to leave those childish notions behind to help others.

Overseer C: There are far more important matters to invest our resources into than your… [He waves his hand, motioning to something invisible] …your little 'treasure hunt'. [scoffs]

[Nearby, M.E.G. Supervisor Chinmay Aarush interjects.]

Chinmay: I know it probably isn't my place to provide an opinion here, but I believe this could be a worthwhile cause to invest in.

Overseer C: [stares blankly] I'm sorry, who are you again?

Overseer A: Ah, I forgot to introduce you all to Chinmay. He's recently been promoted to supervisor. He's backborn, with a lineage apparently dating back to the Lost era. He's had quite a bit of insight into my investigations.

Chinmay: I believe Overseer A's hunch is correct. This labyrinth you call 'Level 611' was of great significance to my people. Even if you don't choose to organize another expedition, further research into it is warranted at the very least.

[Overseer A looks smugly at Overseer B and C.]

Overseer A: Well…?

[Overseer B and C look to each other, sighing before turning back to Overseer A and nodding.]

Overseer C: Fine. Get Leo on this, scour all available archives on The Lost for information related to 611. I expect an entry of some kind to appear in the database within a month.

[Overseer C briefly glances into the camera, half-mockingly shuddering.]

Overseer C: Christ, this thing gives me the creeps. Like it's always watching us…
