What is a Person of Interest?
Persons of Interest (POI’s) are singular individuals who hold high importance within The Backrooms due to their nature or their role. They are often humans, though they are not limited to that, coming from other dimensions or even being native to the Backrooms themselves. Unlike entities, POIs are well-documented and important to the setting's overall history because of their actions. You can think of them as historical figures, past or present, being the core aspect of a group, level, time period, etc. Much like entities, however, they can be captivating because of their status, their behaviour, and the implications they create for future pages.

Dr. Shields is a skilled operative and researcher previously employed with the M.E.G. It is believed that he went AWOL sometime in late 2018 over an altercation with M.E.G. leadership, rumors saying it had to do with funding for a private project. After fleeing Base Alpha with a handful of other operatives, he was presumed dead for the next two years, until an unidentified Penumbra arrived at Base Gamma claiming to serve as a representative of Dr. Shields, delivering unto the M.E.G. a package containing an assortment of notes and letters, all of which detailing information about a select few species of Entities he had labelled "Humanoids". Since then Dr. Shields has proclaimed himself a freelance anthropologist dedicated to doing these "Humanoid races" justice, and ending what he describes as "the brutality of humanity."

Eden always had a specific philosophy and personality that made her feel trusted by the entities she studied. While many see entities as monsters, she always looked at them as her equal — even the dangerous “murder-monsters” of the Backrooms.

Francisque Alberici, also known by his alias, "Father Pigeon", is a high-ranking member of the cult known as the Followers of Jerry who is currently staying involuntarily at the M.E.G. Psychiatric Hospital in Level 11. Before his admission, he engaged in several coordinated attacks on M.E.G. bases with other members of the Followers.

Agent Bell joined The M.E.G in 2016 at age 37, after she was found wandering Level 5 with The Memoriter in hand.

Kubileya (more commonly known by “Shepherdess”) is a mute, enigmatic Wanderer sighted in different levels and circumstances. She leads — or is led by — a herd of three-horned goats. There are reports of her and the herd deep in Penumbra domains. Appears to be totally non-hostile, non-confrontational, and frankly skittish. Known to peddle goat milk and goat cheese. Presumably from the goats.

Tom Von Haderach is a young male of Portuguese descent, age 18, easily recognizable by his shoulder-length, wavy blonde hair, and the black leather jacket he's usually seen wearing. Information on Tom is scarce. It is known that prior to the writing of this entry, Tom was often spotted roaming numerous levels with unknown purposes, aiding wanderers along the way.
