THE NEW
"REVOLUTION RACEWAY"
UPDATED- 3/2/03
Here are some of the old and new pictures as of today. Sure hope to see all of you make a stop by.
Above is the West room, before ripping out the old display walls and after cleaning, patching, texturing and a new coat of paint.
Above, Becky Giese doing the wall painting.
Above, a sample of the new ceiling tile. Next week for sure we will drop these in.
I've always heard stories about this building, and yet, I took the job. One moment, I was talking with my boss, finishing up renovations, and the next, I hit carpet, and my ears were assaulted with the buzzing of old lights.
The designer for Rohner's Furniture was a real weirdo, but people would call him "eccentric" just to sound more polite. He'd always show up and ramble about a reality outside of our own, with deities beyond our knowledge. He claimed this store was built to be a "threshold", whatever that meant. Some say that he designed the place in its image, almost like the Winchester. He'd never look at furniture when he came, but instead he would stare at the walls, even feel them up and down as if to look for faults. I don't think even Mr. Rohner himself liked that man, but he kept him around for being the best at his craft, no matter how eccentric. Even if he was strange, he had some good ideas from time to time.
But, I guess he was right. At the very least, he was right about the existence of this place. And it sure as hell looks like Rohner's. Or at least, a weird imitation of it. But, I guess Rohner's was a weird imitation of this place, wasn't it?
This place freaks me out.
Part of me wonders where I would be if I didn't end up here. I always think about where everyone else thinks I went. Do they miss me? Are they looking for me? What if they fell in here too?
I shouldn't think about that.
The longer I walk through this place, the more I feel sick to my stomach. It smells worse than the building did before reno. The buzzing of these shitty lights are giving me a migraine. I'm thirsty. I'm hungry. Does this place ever end?
I'm walking in circles. I swear I've been in this room a hundred times already.
I don't even remember my name anymore.
I'm losing my damn mind.
I'm scared.

Daryl doing some end of day clean up. The Dorsey's, Rob Henderson, Troy and Jeff helped today in addition to more people last week. I like the looks of the floor to the right of the picture. We are getting down to almost what the Eagles Club is, we will be sanding it also.
Another view of the cleaned area. We're losing people fast, hurry to sign up to help.
Also coming this next week, new bathroom's start being constructed.
