This being, now known as Icarus Procidens, often projects a corporeal apparition of himself across the Backrooms to escape his unimaginable fate, even if only temporarily. Various murals of a dark, shadowy figure and maniacal laughing from behind the bars of Level 3 are perhaps the only thing left of what Icarus once was.

Gatekeeper was the original god of Access who reigned alongside the rest of the Pantheon in ancient times. Pure and absolute in his rule, he never wavered from his purpose. However, as man began to turn against the Gods, his heart hardened, and he became cruel. Gatekeeper was ultimately poisoned and killed by one of his own followers. He was then infused into his own cloak by his oversoul, forced to seek out the most compatible host to wear the cloak and bear the title of The Keymaster.

Having incurred the wrath of his oversoul, he became imprisoned in a samsaric cycle of death rebirth as a bound madman, a blind elder, and a wise shaman. After losing everything he loved, he vowed vengeance and the fulfillment of his original purpose.

After falling out with the Pantheon, Asterion isolated himself within a grand labyrinth of his own design, where unsuspecting wanderers meet their demise.
